REVIEW: Sing Your Heart Out + Giveaway

BOOK DETAILS:
Sing Your Heart Out (Sinful Serenade #1) by Crystal Kaswell
Publication Date: Fall 2015 * Genres: New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:
Good girls don’t date rockstars.
They certainly don’t take rock stars as fuck buddies.
Still a virgin at 21, Meg Smart walks a straight and narrow path. She aces her classes, excels at her part time job, and carefully avoids the black hole that is mourning her sister. There’s no room in her life for trouble–no drinks, no drugs, and especially no boyfriends.
Fine with Miles.
Rock star Miles Webb doesn’t do boyfriend. He doesn’t do intimacy, or love, or anything that isn’t effortless and casual. The only time the singer reveals himself is on stage. His gorgeous, tortured voice hints at the kind of unspeakable pain Meg understands all too well. Only the second he steps off stage he transforms into a cocky, know-it-all player.
Their chemistry is red-hot. He’s tattooed, tall, and totally irresistible. She can’t handle a one-night stand, and a relationship is totally out of the question.
That only leaves one option:
Friends with benefits.
Just sex. Just fun.
No secrets, no feelings, no falling in love.
Only neither one of them can quite abide by the terms.

My Review:

When I first start reading a book for a review for my blog I always have a pad of paper next to me so I can take notes while I am reading, this way I can remember things that I didn't understand, favorite quotes, and errors (if it's an ARC). My first note on Sing Your Heart Out was that the writing was simply written with a minimal amount of detail. I also wrote down two quotes, and two questions I was asking myself about where the story was going. I like to make predictions and see if I was correct later on. All of these notes occurred within the first few chapters and then I forgot all about the notepad. I just kept reading and reading. I went to work and I snuck off to read more. I couldn't help myself. It was easy to predict where the whole friends with benefits would end up (falling in love duh!) but Crystal took a completely different path in doing so, and I was falling in love with Miles wishing he was writing songs about me.

Crystal doesn't go deep into detail describing the characters which allows the reader to form adaptions of them on their own, which I do enjoy as a reader while others may not. The sex scenes have just enough detail without going overboard, but who am I kidding those are always my favorite scenes as well as love declarations. This was the first piece of work that I have read from Crystal Kaswell, and while I am assuming each band member will have their own book on their journey of falling in love, I will be adding Crystal Kaswell to the list of authors to keep an eye out for. I know I'll be reading more of her stories in the future.

Some early favorite passages/quotes are:

A pang of desire shoots through me. My damn body isn't obeying my commands. It can't help wanting Miles Webb. He has beautiful blue eyes, a strong jaw, and tattoos peeking out from his t-shirt. He's taller than I am.
He is bad news.
A player.
A rock star, even.
But I can't stop staring at him.

I help her out of the car and up the stairs. I fish through her purse for her keys. She looked at me with concern. "Thanks for coming out, but Meg-"
"Yeah?"
Her gaze drifts to Miles. "Be careful. I know Miles is cute, but he's a heart breaker."

I enjoy almost every erotic, romance, or supernatural (or in any combinations of the previously listed genres) book that I read, and Sing Your Heart Out was not an exception. I found very few errors while reading that I was able to pass on to Crystal who was very easy to talk to, and other than that Sing Your Heart Out was an easy read (easy as in you just wanted to keep reading and not put the book down for a moment). I am leaving this a 5 star rating, because a paper crush was formed.

Crystal, great job on your hard, hard work and I can't wait to see what comes from Sing Your Heart Out and any future pieces. I would love to get this in physical copy signed if every possible! :)
